jobim was singing about his girl in the ultrasound room
when we confirmed what I already knew
since the day I discovered you
alive
inside me
you:
girl
woman
child
the sea from my home is far from us
and you do not know those salty waters
yet
the swaying of ipanema waves
but you float in the waters of march
inside of me
march
when females raise their flags
and the world looks at women
offering mistaken flowers
in a kind of spring
that is born from our wounds
if the feminine leads us forward
but one is not born, but rather becomes a woman
I just want you to become the woman you want to be
and lead forward what belongs to you
little bird
spring is coming
and you with it.
NOTES:
I wrote this on March 8th 2018, two weeks before my daughter was born.
Being pregnant was one of the most creative times I ever had, despite being the loneliest I ever felt (maybe that's why).
My little bird arrived March 21st, to joy, wonder and fire.
