Inanna is the Queen of Heaven and Earth.
The goddess of love, war, desire, power, poetry.
A mirror. A storm. A crown.
She came to me first through the pages of my grandmother’s golden-covered encyclopedias.
After, in women's circles.
Later still, in pregnancy, ritual, and study with Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estés.
I believe she’s always been here.
In this episode of Goddess, Witch, Woman, I tell the early stories of Inanna’s mythos:
Her sacred theft of the me from Enki — the blueprints of civilization
The mirror in the garden — where she gazes at her vulva and laughs, wild and free
The cutting of the Huluppu Tree, and the exile of Lilith, the Anzu bird, and the serpent
The oldest hymn we know: The Exaltation of Inanna, written by the first named author in history… guess? A woman!
This is not just a podcast episode. It’s an invocation, a remembering.
Her famous descent is coming on the next episode, but first, let us remember the bright queen.
The one who dared.
The one who danced.
The one who knew exactly who she was and what she wanted.
Thank you for listening,
Marianna
